Hello everyone! Today we have a classic Turkish spinach recipe for you. Spinach with rice and ground beef. Spinach vegetable is a very important food ingredient for Turkish cuisine in the winter months. It is known that 100 grams of raw spinach contains approximately 17 calories. There is one thing that must be known before preparing a spinach food. Spinach is a vegetable that should be eaten immediately after preparation. If the spinach is even kept in the refrigerator, its nutritional value decreases and the process of decay begins. For this reason, when making a spinach meal, you should buy the amount of spinach you can eat daily and cook it. It is known that spinach meets the body's need for vitamins and minerals. In addition, thanks to its antioxidant properties, it is a vegetable that contributes to body immunity.

After all these spinach benefits, it is unthinkable to spend a whole winter without cooking spinach. If you are a vegetarian and vegan person, of course, you can make our recipe with or without meat. Before moving on to our recipe, let's take a look at the tips of our dish!


Cooking Spinach Tips

The first way to make a delicious and healthy spinach dish is to choose a fresh spinach. So how do we know if the spinach is fresh? At first glance, spinach with a dark green color and no yellow spots should be chosen. It is also important to avoid buying spinach that has mud on the leaves or rotten leaves.

If you wash your rice before preparing your recipe, your rice will stay harder in the food. And the rice will not stick together.

If you use lean ground beef in the food, your food will be lighter, because you will already use olive oil in addition in the recipe.

The tomato paste that you will use while preparing your meal will already be salty. It is important to be careful when using additional salt so that the food is not overly salty.

It is very important that you consume the food without waiting too long after preparing it. Because as spinach waits, its nutritional value decreases and the vegatable enters the process of decay.

If you serve your spinach with a bowl of yoghurt, the refreshing feature of yogurt will add a different flavor to your plate.

Spinach Recipe Ingredients

1/2 Kg Spinach

150 grams of Ground Beef

1 Chopped Onion

3 Cloves of Chopped Garlic

2 Tablespoons of Washed White Rice

2 Tablespoons of Tomato Paste

1/2 Cups of Olive Oil (100 ml)

4 Cups of Boiling Water (800 ml)

1 Teaspoon of Black Pepper

1 Teaspoon of Red Pepper Flakes

1 Teaspoon of Salt





How to Cook Spinach with Rice and Ground Beef ?

Pour half a glass of olive oil into a pot.

Then add 150 grams of lean ground beef.

Saute the ground beef well.

Add 1 chopped onion and saute the onions.

Add 3 chopped garlics and continue sauting.

Mix all the ingredients well.

Add 1 tablespoon of tomato paste.

Add half kg of chopped spinach to the pot.

Add 2 tablespoons of washed white rice.

Add 1 cup (200 ml) of boiling water.

Close the lid of the pot and start cooking.

When the food starts to boil, mix the food well.

Add 1 teaspoon of red chili powder.

Add 1 teaspoon of salt.

Add 1 teaspoon of black pepper.

Mix the food again.

Add 3 glasses (600 ml) of boiling water as the water will decrease due to evaporation while the food is being cooked.

Close the lid of the pot and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes.

You can serve your spinach meal hot with yogurt on the side.
