What are the Rice Benefits ?

It is known that rice, which is indispensable in Far East dishes as well as in Turkish cuisine, has many health benefits. Experts agree that rice is a healthy and nutritious food if consumed in a controlled manner. I guess I would not be exaggerating if I said rice is an integral part of a balanced nutrition. Rice, which is very rich in minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, iron and potassium, is also a valuable food type in terms of B vitamins necessary for energy formation. Eating rice is beneficial for health because rice does not contain harmful fat, cholesterol or sodium. Rice, which is an energy source, provides the body with the necessary energy due to the high amount of carbohydrates it contains and helps the normal functioning of the brain.

How to Cook Rice ?

Although rice cooking may seem easy to prepare at first, it is absolutely necessary to have some tips to make a successful pilaf. The steps that go on from the choice of rice to the water measure, from the cooking technique to the brewing time are the elements that increase the flavor of the rice. You can use the two simplest techniques, the boiling technique or the roasting technique, to prepare delicious pilafs.

In the boiling technique, the rice is washed after soaking and the water is drained. A sufficient amount of salted water is boiled in a saucepan and the rice is added to the boiling water. The rice is cooked until they are long and soft and drained with the help of a colander. Butter is added to the same pot this time. And the rice is added to the melted butter and cooked by closing the lid of the pot. Cooked rice is now ready to serve after infusing for about 25-30 minutes.

In order to make pilaf with the roasting technique, the rice is first soaked in warm water. The rice is then washed and the water is filtered. Meanwhile, butter is being melted in a saucepan. Rices are roasted in melted butter by adding rice directly to the melted butter. When the rice grains are sufficiently roasted and start to become transparent, enough water and salt are added, the lid of the pot is closed and the dish is left to cook on low heat. After the rice has absorbed all its water, the bottom of the stove is turned off and left to infuse.
